Homophobic and Transphobic Bullying
Homophobic and Transphobic bullying is all too common in Britain’s schools. Whether it is name-calling, physical assaults or offensive texts or tweets it is not ok for someone to bully you because you are, or they think you are, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
What is the Actionline?
Our award-winning Actionline takes calls from young people who are experiencing homophobic or transphobic bullying anywhere in England. If you, or someone you know, has been the target of homophobic or transphobic bullying our Actionline is the place to click or call – in confidence.
Alternatively, if you are an adult who works with young people or a parent who wants to report the homophobic or transphobic bullying of a young person you can also access our Actionline for confidential support and guidance.
Who will answer my call?
Your call will be answered by EACH staff who will listen to you, provide you with professional, confidential guidance and help you decide on the best course of action. If they are busy speaking to another caller, and your call cannot be taken, please call again within our designated hours or complete our online reporting form.
What good will phoning the Actionline do?
Having listened to your explanation of what you’re experiencing we will decide, with you, the best way to secure the help and support you need. This could include liaising with your school or youth agency so they are aware of the bullying and equipped to challenge it, or we could signpost you to relevant resources and local support services so they can advocate on your behalf.

Everyone’s let me down in the past but you were really helpful. You understood where I was coming from and didn’t talk down to me.
Actionline caller, aged 13
Last year you provided the most amazing support to me and my son, age 12, dealing with the relentless homophobic bullying he was experiencing at this school.
Your communication with my son’s school was commendable. I am elated that you have received a response. I am grateful that EACH has taken our case on and is supporting us and our school. Thank you!
